Quick answer: To work out how many PVC rolls you need, first find how many strips cover the door, then multiply by the door height. With the usual 50% overlap, each strip covers half its own width: a 200 mm strip covers about 4 inches of door, a 300 mm strip about 6 inches and a 400 mm strip about 8 inches. Strips = door width ÷ coverage per strip, rounded up. Metres of PVC = strips × door height in metres. A standard Chronovex roll is 50 m, so divide the total metres by 50 and round up.
This guide walks through the method, gives worked examples for common door sizes, and lists current roll prices so you can plan a purchase or check a quote.
A complete set comes cut to size with hanger hardware and is priced per sq ft. Rolls suit buyers who:
Rolls do not include hardware. If you are fitting new doors, add a hanger set per door, such as the SS304 hook-on set or the CRC hook-on set.
PVC rolls come in 200 mm, 300 mm and 400 mm widths. Wider strips are stiffer and hang better across larger openings; narrower strips are lighter and easier to push through on small doors. As a general guide:
If you are unsure, send the door size on WhatsApp and we will suggest the width and thickness. Our thickness guide explains when to choose 2 mm or 3 mm.
Strips are hung with 50% overlap so that there are no gaps when they close. That means each strip adds half its width to the coverage:
| Strip width | Coverage per strip (50% overlap) | Strips for a 3 ft door | Strips for a 6 ft door |
|---|---|---|---|
| 200 mm (8 in) | about 4 in | 9 | 18 |
| 300 mm (12 in) | about 6 in | 6 | 12 |
| 400 mm (16 in) | about 8 in | 5 | 9 |
Formula: strips = door width in inches ÷ coverage per strip, rounded up to the next whole strip.
Multiply the number of strips by the door height. Convert feet to metres by multiplying by 0.3048 (7 ft = 2.13 m, 8 ft = 2.44 m, 10 ft = 3.05 m, 12 ft = 3.66 m).
Metres = strips × height (m). Rolls = metres ÷ 50, rounded up. Keep a small margin for trimming the strips to sweep the floor, and remember that a strip cannot be joined: each strip must come from one continuous length of roll.
| Door (W × H) | Strip width | Strips | PVC needed | 50 m rolls |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 ft × 7 ft (shop / kitchen) | 200 mm | 9 | 9 × 2.13 = 19.2 m | 1 |
| 6 ft × 7 ft (factory door) | 300 mm | 12 | 12 × 2.13 = 25.6 m | 1 |
| Two 6 ft × 7 ft doors | 300 mm | 24 | 24 × 2.13 = 51.2 m | 2 |
| 10 ft × 12 ft (loading dock) | 400 mm | 15 | 15 × 3.66 = 54.9 m | 2 |
The second and third rows show why it is worth calculating for all doors together: one 6 × 7 ft door uses about half a roll, so two such doors need just over one roll and you should order two.
Prices for the clear transparent PVC roll, normal grade, per 50 m roll, GST included:
| Thickness | 200 mm | 300 mm | 400 mm |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 mm | ₹5,859 | ₹8,789 | ₹11,718 |
| 3 mm | ₹8,149 | ₹12,224 | ₹16,298 |
Mix DOP and DOP grades cost more and stay softer for longer. Other rolls follow the same counting method:
Each roll product page also has a roll calculator: enter your door sizes and it shows the metres and rolls needed.
For a door-by-door price including hardware, the PVC strip curtain price guide and the strip curtain calculator give the complete-set price.
It depends on the door height. For a 7 ft (2.13 m) door, one 50 m roll gives 23 strips. For a 10 ft (3.05 m) door, it gives 16 strips.
It is better not to. Strips of the same width and thickness hang evenly and overlap consistently.
Rolls are supplied as full rolls. If you want strips cut to your door height with hardware, order the complete set instead.
