PVC Strip Curtain Calculator — India's Engineer-Grade BOM Tool

Enter your doorway dimensions and get an instant bill of materials: strip count, total PVC length in meters, square footage, and hookon hardware quantity. Built by Chronovex Industries (ISO 9001:2015, founded 2009) using the same +6 inch overlap engineering standard our installation teams apply across India.

How This Calculator Works

We apply the same engineering rules our installation teams use across 16 Indian states. Each strip is 200 mm (8 inch) wide with a 50 percent overlap, giving an effective spacing of 6 inch between strip centers. A 6 inch overlap is added to both door width and height to ensure full seal coverage.

strips = ceil(width_in / 6)
area_sqft = (width_in + 6) × (height_in + 6) / 144
length_m = strips × height_in × 0.0254
hookons = ceil(width_in × 25.4 / 500)

Thickness Guide

  • 2 mm (200 micron): Pedestrian doors, low-traffic offices
  • 3 mm (300 micron): Standard factory and warehouse use, our most popular spec
  • 4 mm (400 micron): Cold storage, dock doors, forklift traffic
  • 5 mm (500 micron): Heavy forklift and pallet-truck zones, blast freezer entries

Key Facts About PVC Strip Curtain Sizing

  • A standard PVC strip curtain uses 200 mm wide strips with 50 percent overlap, giving an effective 100 mm of new coverage per strip and one strip every 6 inch of door width.
  • Chronovex specifies a 6 inch overlap on both width and height to maintain seal integrity even when forklift traffic deflects the strips.
  • For doors that face below-zero environments, we recommend low-temperature polar grade PVC rated to minus 25 degree Celsius without cracking.
  • Hookon hardware spacing follows a 500 mm rule of thumb, meaning one mounting point per 500 mm of width, producing 6 to 8 hookons on a typical 10-foot door.
  • Stainless steel SS304 mounting hardware is mandatory for food, pharma, and cold storage installations; CRC powder-coated steel is acceptable for general factory use.
  • A correctly sized PVC strip curtain reduces conditioned-air loss by 70 to 90 percent compared with an unsealed open doorway, paying back its cost in 6 to 14 months at Indian electricity rates.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is this calculator?

The output is engineering-grade and matches the BOM our Chronovex installation teams quote for the same dimensions. Field tolerance is plus or minus one strip depending on door framing and overlap preference. For mission-critical doors (pharma, cold storage), our engineers verify the spec before fabrication.

What is the difference between hook-on and sliding hardware?

Hook-on is fixed: strips clip onto a stationary header rail above the door and stay in place. Sliding allows the entire curtain to be parked to one side when full opening is needed, such as for occasional pallet movement. Sliding hardware costs around 30 to 40 percent more but is recommended for doors used by both forklifts and pedestrians.

Which thickness should I order?

For standard factory and warehouse doors, 3 mm (300 micron) is our most popular spec and balances cost with durability. Upgrade to 4 mm for cold storage and forklift dock doors, and 5 mm for blast freezer entries or heavy industrial use with constant pallet truck traffic. Pedestrian-only doors can use 2 mm.

Do you ship across India?

Yes. Chronovex operates a service network across 16 Indian states with our factory and warehouse in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Lead time is typically 5 to 7 working days for stock specifications and 10 to 14 days for custom sizes, with pan-India dispatch.

What warranty do you provide?

Our PVC strip curtains carry a 12-month material warranty against manufacturing defects, with typical service life of 5 to 8 years in standard industrial use and up to 15 years for low-traffic pedestrian doors. Hardware is warranted for 24 months.
