Air Curtain AMC Pricing in India — 2-Visit, 4-Visit & 12-Visit Plans (2026)

May 13, 2026 / By Super Admin / in Air Curtain

Quick answer: Air curtain AMC pricing in India runs roughly 8–15% of the equipment’s original sale value per year for a Comprehensive plan, 4–7% for Non-Comprehensive (labour-only), and ₹1,800–3,500 per visit on a Pay-Per-Visit basis depending on city tier and unit size. The plan you should pick depends on duty cycle (hours/day), site criticality, and whether you have an in-house electrical team.

This page lays out the four standard AMC structures Chronovex offers for our air curtains (and what they actually cover), plus the questions to ask any vendor before you sign an annual contract.

1. Why an Air Curtain Needs an AMC at All

An air curtain looks simple on the outside, but the unit packed inside the housing has wearing parts that degrade with run-hours: high-RPM blower motors (typically 1,400–2,800 RPM), aluminium centrifugal impellers, electrical contactors, microswitches in the door interlock, and capacitors in single-phase variants. In a typical Indian retail or restaurant install running 14 hours a day, 360 days a year, that adds up to ~5,000 motor-hours annually. Without periodic balancing, lubrication, and capacitor checks, you lose 15–20% of air-throw velocity within 18 months — which is the entire point of the air curtain gone.

An AMC is the difference between paying ₹5,000–12,000 per year to keep performance at spec, versus paying ₹45,000–70,000 to replace a burnt motor at month 14 because no one tightened the terminal block.

2. The Four Standard AMC Structures

PlanVisits/yearSpares included?Typical annual cost*Best for
Comprehensive AMC4 (quarterly) or 12 (monthly)Yes — all wearing parts8–15% of equipment valueHospitals, malls, QSR chains, 24×7 sites
Non-Comprehensive AMC4 (quarterly)Labour only; spares at MRP–5%4–7% of equipment valueOffices, single-shift retail, low duty cycle
Preventive-Only AMC2 (half-yearly)Labour only; spares billed separately2–4% of equipment valueCold-climate sites, low-traffic entrances
Pay-Per-Visit (no AMC)On-callPer-incident₹1,800–3,500/visit + spares + travelSingle-unit sites, ad-hoc emergencies

*Indicative ranges for FY 2025–26 Tier-1 / Tier-2 Indian cities for a mid-size (1200–1500 mm) commercial air curtain. Tier-3 and remote sites add travel + per-diem.

3. What Comprehensive AMC Actually Covers

A genuine Comprehensive AMC for an air curtain should include, line by line:

  • Scheduled visits: 4 quarterly OR 12 monthly depending on duty cycle
  • Motor health: bearing temperature scan, vibration check, end-bell inspection
  • Blower/impeller: cleaning, dynamic balance verification, blade-pitch alignment
  • Electrical: capacitor capacitance test, contactor pitting check, terminal torque re-tightening
  • Door interlock micro-switch and remote control functionality
  • Air-velocity measurement at door plane with calibrated anemometer (record sheet provided)
  • Replacement at no extra cost: capacitors, contactors, fan bearings, terminal blocks, control PCB, remote, microswitch, fan blade if cracked due to fatigue
  • Emergency response: 24–48 hours for Tier-1 cities, 48–72 hours for Tier-2, photo-documented service report after every visit

What Comprehensive does not cover — physical impact damage (forklift hit, vandalism), voltage-surge damage where the customer has no SPD, water ingress from open-roof installs, and any motor failure caused by single-phasing on the customer's incoming supply. Insist that these exclusions are spelt out, not assumed.

4. Non-Comprehensive AMC — the Right Choice for Most Offices

Non-Comprehensive is the workhorse plan for office receptions, single-shift retail, and bank branches. The vendor brings labour, tools, and consumables (cleaning agents, contact spray, terminal tape). Spares — if needed — are billed at MRP minus a contracted discount, typically 5–10%, against a written estimate before replacement.

Why it works: at low duty cycles, you rarely need an actual spare in year one. The 4 preventive visits keep the unit clean and tightened, and you pay only when something genuinely fails. Over 5 years, total cost-of-ownership on Non-Comprehensive is usually 25–40% lower than Comprehensive for office-class installations.

Why it fails: anywhere with motor run-hours above 10/day. By month 9, a capacitor goes, and the "spares at MRP-5%" line item adds ₹1,800–3,200 to the visit. Two such failures and you've overspent Comprehensive.

5. Pay-Per-Visit — What ₹1,800–3,500 Actually Buys

For ad-hoc service without an annual contract, expect this breakdown:

  • Tier-1 metros (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata): ₹1,800–2,500 per visit, includes 1 hour on-site, basic preventive checks, written service report.
  • Tier-2 cities (Jaipur, Lucknow, Indore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Kochi, Visakhapatnam, etc.): ₹2,200–3,000 per visit, includes travel within city limits.
  • Tier-3 / remote: ₹2,500–3,500 per visit + actual travel + per-diem if overnight.
  • Spares: billed at MRP, no discount.
  • Emergency response: not guaranteed — the customer goes to the back of the queue behind AMC sites.

For a single air curtain at a single site, Pay-Per-Visit usually wins on cash outflow for the first year. From year 2 onward, the math reverses because a failed motor at ₹5,500–18,000 cleans out three years of AMC savings.

6. How to Pick the Right Plan for Your Site

Use this decision frame, in order:

  1. Duty cycle. Hours of run-time per day. Above 12 hours → Comprehensive. 6–12 hours → Non-Comprehensive. Under 6 hours → Preventive-Only or Pay-Per-Visit.
  2. Site criticality. If a 4-hour air curtain outage costs you customers (QSR, hospital lobby, retail with high footfall), pay for Comprehensive + the 24-hour SLA. If it doesn't, save the money.
  3. Number of units. Single-unit sites → Pay-Per-Visit. 3+ units across a building → Non-Comprehensive minimum. 10+ units across a chain → Comprehensive with discounted fleet pricing.
  4. In-house electrical team? If yes, you can run Preventive-Only and have your own team handle minor faults. If no, default upward.
  5. Voltage stability. Sites with frequent surges or single-phasing should pay for Comprehensive because motor failure rates triple.

7. Contract Clauses That Actually Matter

Beyond the headline number, these five clauses decide whether the AMC is worth the paper:

  • Response-time SLA: must be stated in clock-hours, not "best effort." For Comprehensive, demand 24h Tier-1 / 48h Tier-2 / next-day Tier-3.
  • Genuine spares clause: written commitment that all replacement parts are OEM original with batch traceability. Generic capacitors and motors void the original equipment warranty.
  • Exclusions in writing: surge, single-phasing, physical impact, water ingress — all spelt out, no "reasonable use" weasel language.
  • Auto-renewal & price escalation cap: max 7% annual escalation, with 60-day written notice for renewal.
  • Termination right: 30-day exit clause for non-performance, with pro-rata refund of unused visits.

8. Frequently Asked Questions

Is GST applicable on AMC charges?

Yes. AMC services fall under SAC code 998719 (maintenance and repair services of other commercial and industrial machinery) and attract 18% GST. The full GST is eligible for ITC for registered B2B buyers using the equipment for business purposes. See our air curtain HSN and GST guide for the full tax treatment.

Should AMC be bundled into the equipment invoice or billed separately?

Separately. A bifurcated invoice — air curtain under HSN 8414 59 10, AMC under SAC 998719 — is cleaner at GST audit and lets your finance team capitalise the equipment while expensing the AMC under "repairs and maintenance." Insist on it.

What is a fair price for a 4-visit Comprehensive AMC on a 1200 mm commercial air curtain?

For an air curtain originally invoiced at ₹18,000–25,000, Comprehensive AMC typically lands at ₹1,800–3,000 per year (8–12% of equipment value). If a vendor quotes above 15%, ask what specifically is included beyond OEM standard.

Can I switch from Non-Comprehensive to Comprehensive mid-year?

Yes, on most contracts. The pro-rata gap is computed on remaining months, but some vendors require a fresh annual contract from the upgrade date. Negotiate this clause in writing before signing the original AMC.

What happens if the air curtain motor fails outside warranty but inside Comprehensive AMC?

Under genuine Comprehensive AMC, motor replacement (including labour) is at zero cost to the customer, provided the failure is from normal wear and tear. Vendors who try to bill motor failures as "out of scope" are violating the contract; reference the parts-coverage clause and escalate.

Do you offer pan-India AMC for multi-location chains?

Yes. Chronovex services air curtains across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Surat, and 40+ Tier-2 cities. For 10+ sites, we issue a single master AMC with city-tier-specific SLAs. Request a multi-site AMC quote with your full site list and we'll come back with city-wise pricing.
