For any thickness, the industry standard is 50% strip overlap. For a 1500 mm wide doorway: 200 mm strips need 11 hangers (one every 100 mm of effective coverage); 300 mm strips need 8 hangers; 400 mm strips need 6 hangers. Wider strips reduce hardware and installation cost but offer slightly less seal flexibility at door edges.
For storage below –18°C (blast freezer, ice-cream cold chain), only the 4 mm ribbed polar grade should be specified. Standard 3 mm PVC becomes brittle below –5°C and is prone to edge cracking after 8–12 months. FSSAI cold-chain audit checklists explicitly call out strip-curtain grade and operating temperature.
